Senior Financial Analyst

Yale University offers exciting opportunities for achievement and growth in New Haven, Connecticut. General Purpose:  Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Office, the Graduate School and Yale College. Plans and performs analysis with significant scope and impact in support of business and information needs of leadership. Analyze large data sets to identify and develop potential improvement opportunities. Refine and standardize financial reporting procedures for management. Works under general supervision to support the development of projects and specifications to assist the deans; assist in the identification and gathering of necessary resources; and support implementation.

Required Education and Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Finance and six years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated application of financial, accounting and economic concepts.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on analytical projects, strong project management experience.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; high level customer service orientation; mediation, negotiation and consensus building skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and ability to listen and adapt quickly. Demonstrated ability preparing and presenting understandable analysis of complex financial information.
  • High level analytical and quantitative skills, strong background in finance and financial analysis, a solid understanding of accounting and internal controls and excellent computer/systems skills. Expert Microsoft Excel skills and experience.
  • Ability to work directly and effectively with multiple levels of organization; including senior leadership, external oversight offices and clerical staff.
  • Preferred Education, Experience and Skills: MBA or related graduate degree. Work experience within higher education financial administration. Experience using Tableau, Microsoft Access and Workday.
