Western Connecticut State University’s School of Professional Studies seeks an innovative and experienced leader to chair the Department of Education and Educational Psychology (E&EP). The Department Chair will encourage and support inter-disciplinary initiatives that maintain and expand successful and nationally accredited programs ranging from a bachelor’s degree through a doctorate. The Chairperson is responsible for the leadership and administration of the Department. This is a 12-month faculty position, with the Chair reporting to the Dean of the School of Professional Studies. Preferred starting date is July 1, 2013.

Minimum Qualifications: A doctoral degree from an accredited university in one of the Department’s instructional areas; Scholarship and successful college teaching in education that merits appointment as tenure track faculty; A record of success leading a nationally accredited academic unit, teaching or professional employment in a K-12 public school; Evidence of addressing the educational needs of diverse populations; Demonstrated skills in Instructional Technology and collaborative activities with K-12 public schools.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with a university shared governance model; Coordination of interdisciplinary research, Involvement in outreach activities; Experience with program evaluation and accreditation; Participation in faculty governance; mentoring; and securing external funding.
