The inaugural USAFA Faculty Development Fellowship (UFDF) is a two-and-half day all-expenses paid workshop for doctoral students (within one year of completion), post-doctoral scholars and junior faculty who are interested in pursuing academic careers and who are committed to promoting diversity in higher education. 

During the workshop the participants will attend sessions covering academic life as a faculty member at a balanced teaching and research university. Participants will learn about the expectations of new faculty and resources available to faculty for help with teaching and research in an inclusive environment. Participants attend presentations on research, teaching and faculty development and have discussion sessions with current faculty at all levels from assistant to full professor. Each participant is matched with an academic department whose interests closely match their own. The balance of time is spent visiting with this academic department. During these visits, participants have the opportunity to meet with faculty to discuss teaching and research programs and learn about the departmental/university culture. Participants will tour teaching/research facilities, meet with current students and meet with the head of the host department. During these in-depth departmental discussions, participants receive one-on-one advice about preparing for an academic career and may obtain feedback on which parts of their preparation are strong and which parts might need strengthening. This is an invaluable opportunity for both the UFDF participants and the USAFA departments. 

The USAFA Faculty Development Fellowship is not a job placement program. Rather, it is designed to provide invaluable information for doctoral students, post-doctoral scholars and junior faculty who are interested in developing more fully as a teacher/scholar.

The deadline for registration is midnight (MT), August 10, 2018. Submissions received after the deadline will be considered for next year's event.

Eligibility
Individuals who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:

• Able to contribute in meaningful ways to the university's continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences
• Earned Ph.D., Post-Doctoral assignment, junior level faculty or within one year of receiving Ph.D.
• Desire a rewarding academic teaching and research career at an exceptional institution
• Eligible to teach disciplines offered at USAFA
• Participation for the full duration of the UFDF program
• United States Citizenship
