Colorado College, a private liberal arts college serving 2,000 undergraduate students at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, invites nominations and applications for an Associate Vice President for Finance (AVP) to join the Division of Finance and Administration. Founded in 1874, Colorado College offers students an interdisciplinary, inquiry-based curriculum on a unique academic calendar known as the "Block Plan" where faculty teach and students study one course at a time for three and a half weeks in an immersive learning environment.

Colorado College seeks a strategic and innovative Associate Vice President for Finance (AVP) who will serve as the deputy finance officer in financial administration and work closely with the Senior Vice President on a range of financial leadership services and initiatives. The AVP will direct the college’s accounting operations including finance, endowment, accounting, payroll, taxes, student business operations, contract review, audit control and compliance and technology resources. They will also serve as the assistant treasurer. In addition to running essential finance and accounting duties, the AVP will lead and cultivate a highly collegial and effective staff, contribute to strategy and management of campus creative projects, and build and maintain cohesive partnerships internally and externally.

The Division of Finance and Administration at Colorado College provides critical support for all of Colorado College’s students, faculty, staff, and community partners. The division is home to 136 staff across the areas of accounts payable, budget, cashier, controller, facilities, human resources, payroll, and student accounts. With fiduciary oversight from the Trustee Committee on Investment and guidance from the college’s investment consultants, the division plays an integral role in managing the college’s $743 million endowment.

SELECTED QUALIFICATIONS

The AVP will hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus a minimum of seven years experience at the director level or above within a finance and administration arena that includes progressively responsible management experience in accounting, audits, investments and debt, and a broad range of business operations.
