Summer Writing Program - Portfolio Editor

Position Title: SWP Portfolio Editor

Hours per Week: 8 hrs per week
Pay Rate: $10.20 - 11.00/hour

Job Summary: The Summer Writing Program (SWP) portfolio editor sets guidelines for submission, editing, layout, and all aspects of production and distribution of the annual Summer Writing Program Portfolio in the Bombay Gin Literary Journal. This is a 4-week temporary position from June 11 - July 6, 2018.

Job Duties:
  • Create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
  • Communicate with SWP participants and guest faculty.
  • Solicit and collect material from SWP participants and guest faculty.
  • Select and edit a Portfolio of work that represents the themes of the Summer Writing Program.
  • Coordinate with the Editor-in-Chief of the Bombay Gin.
  • Layout and design SWP Portfolio for the Bombay Gin.
  • Write a brief introduction to the SWP Portfolio for the Bombay Gin.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be currently enrolled as a JKS student.
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
  • Strong eye for editing and design.
  • Highly organized.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • An understanding of the dynamics of privilege and oppression, and the impact these have on equity, access, and opportunity.
  • Commitment to co-create an inclusive community and actively participate in related professional development, including openness to feedback and ongoing self-examination.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with InDesign or Quark.
  • Previous experience with journal production.
