Job Duties:
The Emergency Medical Education department is seeking qualified part-time instructors to teach emergency medical technologies. Teaching assignment(s) may include any of the curriculum approved courses within the discipline of emergency medical technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must meet both qualifications listed under 1 and 2 below:

1. Must meet one of the following qualifications under a) or b):
a) A Bachelors degree AND two years of professional experience.
b) An Associates degree AND six years of professional experience.

2. Qualified by education and experience in methods, materials, and evaluation of instruction, which shall be documented by one of the following under a through b:
a) Possession of one of the following certificates by time of appointment: California State Fire Marshal (CSFM) Fire Instructor 1A and 1B; or the National Fire Academy (NFA) Fire Service Instructional Methodology course; or the National Associate of EMS Educators Level 1 Course; OR
b) Sixty hours in techniques of teaching courses or four semester units of upper division credit in education materials, methods, and curriculum development or equivalent from a college or university.

Only coursework completed at, and degrees awarded by, accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education will be considered as satisfying the minimum qualifications. Coursework and degrees that are completed outside of the United States are required to have transcripts evaluated (evaluation to U.S. equivalency and a course by course analysis) by an appropriate U.S. credentials evaluation service. NOTE: For professional experience, a year is defined as equivalent to 40 hours per week for 10 months.
