Position Description:
The Director of Real Estate Education Initiatives serves as a connector between student studies and faculty teaching of real estate subjects at Cal Poly, and the broad array of industries serving the built environment. Under the general direction of the Deans from the College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) and the Orfalea College of Business (OCOB), the Director of Real Estate Education Initiatives will be responsible for growing and enhancing relationships with external stakeholders, students, and faculty; cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors to support and sustain the vision for real estate initiatives; promoting real estate learning opportunities to prospective students; and facilitating the interaction between real estate faculty and practitioners. The incumbent will report directly to the Dean from the college most closely related to the Director of Real Estate Education Initiative's expertise but will consult regularly with both Deans. Success of the program rests on making the role work cross-functionally and inter-disciplinary, rather than associated with just one of the colleges.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff Only):
Bachelor's degree in a closely related field and eight (8) years of progressively significant experience in the real estate industry.

- Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development.
- Must be able to work overtime, occasional holidays, and adjust working hours to meet special jobs. May be called back periodically to perform work as needed on an emergency basis.
- Retired CalPERS members selected for this vacancy must request and be approved for reinstatement from retirement prior to the start date. Employment of retired CalPERS members will typically be for 90 days or less and must be for work requiring specialized skills or for a bona fide emergency to prevent stoppage of business.
- This position classification has been defined as exempt and is not subject to overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
- The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment."
- Full-time MPP employees are required to disclose outside employment at time of hire or within 30 days of taking additional outside employment subsequent to time of hire.
