Department of Art and Art History
Position: Part-time, Temporary Lecturer in the History of Photography, New Media Art,
History of Contemporary Art, and Visual Culture
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in art history or equivalent field and teaching experience at the university level; strong writing skills and an ability to direct and assess student writing; scholarly engagement in the area of art history and visual culture as evidenced by presentations and publication. Candidates must also demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach upper-division undergraduate survey courses, particularly in History of Photography, New Media Art, and History of Contemporary Art. In addition to such survey courses, part time faculty may also teach the lower-division General Education courses in Art History and Visual Culture. The successful candidate will teach within a dynamic department that encourages cross-disciplinary practice between studio art practice and contemporary art criticism. Thus, we seek candidates with an understanding of and engagement with recent debates in new media and contemporary art practices. Candidates demonstrate the ability to meet the needs of a student population of great diversity - in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation - through course materials, teaching strategies and advisement. They must also participate in 1-2 faculty meetings per semester and provide assessment data and information to the department.
Salary: Commensurate with rank and experience.
