Grounds Equipment Operator

Compensation

Anticipated Salary Range: $3,093/month - $3,873/month
Salary Range: $3,093/month - $5,433/month

About the Position

This position is primarily responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of the campus grounds and involves driving or operating motorized self-propelled equipment for 50% or more of the assignment, while ensuring a clean, safe and attractive learning environment. Position makes decisions based upon sound grounds maintenance practice.

Minimum Qualifications

- Equivalent to one year of paid or regularly assigned driving experience in a job involving operating a delivery vehicle, truck, tractor, bus, or automotive maintenance equipment.

- License: Possess appropriate license for each vehicle operated and may be required by the State of California Vehicle Code to carry appropriate certification while driving. Drivers of State-owned vehicles must maintain a good driving record* which will be checked periodically with the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications

- Six months of full time custodial or service industry experience in an institutional or commercial setting.
- Six months of full time experience with industrial commercial equipment.
- Experience with chemical/product mixing ratios and labeling containers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- General knowledge of proper methods of, and equipment associated with, general grounds and landscape work.
- Knowledge of the use and care of motorized and non-motorized grounds, landscape, and hardscape tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of the rules for safe driving and operation of equipment. Ability to operate assigned equipment safely, recognize safety hazards, and follow practices and laws to ensure safety. Possession of mechanical aptitude and motor coordination.
- Ability to use a variety of motorized equipment; and ability to operate skillfully small trucks and power-driven grounds and hardscape equipment.
