Justice Studies is a high profile Department at San José State University, located in the center of San José and the heart of Silicon Valley. Established in 1930, the Department of Justice Studies is distinguished as one of the first degree-granting programs in criminal justice in the United States. The Forensic Science program primarily educates aspiring criminalists to work in crime labs and to enter careers and graduate schools via its two majors, 1) Forensic Science, Concentration in Biology, and 2) Forensic Science, Concentration in Chemistry. A third concentration in digital forensics will begin in a couple of years. The recently launched minor in Forensic Studies attracts students interested in careers in law enforcement and provides education in the proper field procedures utilized for collecting and handling evidence, among other things. The Department currently has 11 professors, 21 lecturers, and over 750 majors. For more information about the department, please go to: http://www.sjsu.edu/justicestudies/
