About the Position
The Enrollment and Academic Services Department at San José State University supports the academic mission of the University and collaboratively works with the campus community to enhance student success.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Outreach, the position is primarily responsible for assisting in the recruitment and admissions of undergraduate students in support of the Enrollment Management Plan of San José State University (SJSU). In collaboration with the Enrollment Services units and various University offices, the incumbent assists in representing SJSU to prospective students, parents, high schools and community colleges.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Provides routine advice and counsel to prospective students and their families on general CSU and SJSU specific admissions requirements and other transitional programs including the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).
- Assists with domestic international advising and recruitment to prospective students.
- Conducts in-depth interviews to assess students' needs, goals, major choices, and preparedness for university level work.
- Advises students who are eligible for special programs and services such as EOP, AB540, and Transfer Admission Agreements on the process of acceptance to each of these programs.
- Provides workshops, one-to-one meetings, and phone and e-mail communications to advise applicants on requirements.
- During peak periods, assists with the final verification process for First Time Frosh and Upper Division Transfer applicants. Determining admissibility of applicant via transcript and other documentation review
