Rhetoric Position





RHETORIC POSITION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGOThe University of San Diego, an independent Catholic institution, invites applicants for a tenure track, Assistant Professor position beginning in Fall of 2013. Candidates should have a strong background in rhetorical theory and criticism, and be able to develop and teach undergraduate courses within this area of expertise. Areas of specialization may intersect (but are not limited to) contexts such as advocacy, protest/social movement and/or campaigns, health/risk, legal advocacy, and social networking. The Department of Communication Studies is committed to faculty who are innovative in their pedagogical and research approaches to investigating human communication. Our faculty represents the breadth of the discipline. At the time of appointment, the preferred candidate will have a completed Ph.D., university-level teaching experience, strong research agenda, expected participation/dedication to advising and service, and demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. Applicants should be able to teach a range of communication classes in public speaking, introduction to human communication, communication theory, persuasion, rhetorical theory, communication criticism, and curricula specialization. The Department is committed to teaching and mentoring students as a first priority, while attending to service, research, and creative activity.

We will be conducting interviews at NCA Orlando. Review of all applicants will begin June 1 2012 and continue until November 12, 2012.
