Military Instructor positions offer opportunities across the nation to provide an assortment of military training to the Department of Defense. Our Military Education Program offers a wide range of opportunities in Military Technical Training, Military Combat Training, Vocational Training and Certification, Leadership and Management Development and Professional Skills Development. These positions are as-needed and applicants should live within commuting distance from the designated place of duty.

NOTE: The San Diego Community College District, Military Education Department accepts applications for Military Instructor positions in support of government contracts on a continuous basis. However, it does not necessarily imply there are immediate openings. If you meet the required minimum qualifications, your application will be included in the Military Instructor pool for possible assignments. Hiring departments utilize the pool when there is a need and will contact you directly should you possess the qualifications they are seeking. Applications are purged approximately one year from submittal, at which time you will receive an automated e-mail notice to re-apply if you wish to remain in the pool.

Major Responsibilities:
Primary duties of adjunct faculty members are related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas. Teach all scheduled classes. Maintain accurate records which may include student grades, reports, training jackets and evaluation documents. Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues. Adhere to all applicable military/government standards, regulations, and guidelines. Ensure appropriate set-up, maintenance and administration of classroom. Maintain an accurate inventory of instructional materials and training equipment. Develop remediation plans and provide remediation support for under-performing students, if required. Perform other instructor support duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions.1. Applicants shall have a high school diploma or equivalent. 2. Applicant shall be able to pass a background check.

Desired Qualifications:
1. Applicant has an active security clearance. 2. Applicant has the ability to access military installations. 3. Applicant is encouraged to have a current American Red Cross CPR certificate or equivalent. 4. Technical Certification in field of expertise. 5. Navy Certified Instructor, Journeymen Instructor Certificate, Master Training Specialist or equivalent is recommended.

Pay Information:
SALARY RANGE

Classroom assignment: $55.80 $71.21 per hour

Non-Classroom assignment: $41.85 $53.41 per hour

At the time that an offer of assignment is made, proper salary placement is contingent upon receipt of OFFICIAL (sealed) transcripts. Instructors with advanced coursework shall be placed on the appropriate class and step on the Adjunct College Salary Schedules, effective the first month following receipt (in Human Resources) of the official transcripts. Initial salary placement will be at the first class/step until official transcripts have been submitted.
