The Position:
Applications are currently being accepted for Instructional Assistant / Graphics in the Graphic Design Department, located at San Diego City College. Hours are Monday from 10:00am to 7:00pm, Wednesday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, and Friday from 10:00am to 5:00pm; however, schedule varies from semester to semester. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

Examples of Duties and required qualifications can be found on the linked classification description.The Instructional Assistant / Graphics is expected to meet the qualifications the classification description displayed as Desired Qualifications and Training and Experience as well as the Licensure upon completing the first six (6) months of employment in an Instructional Assistant / Graphics assignment.Some of the following qualifications may be duplicates from the list on the linked classification description. Those qualifications below that are not duplicates from the list on the linked classification description are desired or preferred but not required Analyze situations effectively and adopt effective courses of action. Assemble, maintain, and repair multimedia hardware and peripheral equipment. Assess and evaluate new state of the art media hardware and software for department use. Assist students in understanding and applying basic principles of graphic design. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing for production scripting and communication for all campus/district and public relations. Coordinate and organize work assignments related to a graphic design facilities. Demonstrate competence in the field of digital media and graphic design. Develop and meet schedules and timelines in support of all programs. Ensure the care and security of assigned equipment, materials, and supplies. Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others. Explain work assignments to students. Issue and receive equipment and supplies. Learn and apply techniques of precise measurement and notation. Maintain records and prepare reports. Make simple arithmetic calculations. Meet schedules and timelines. Plan and organize work. Relate effectively with people from varied cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Train and provide work direction to others. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Work cooperatively with others. Work independently with little direction.

Pay Information:
Range 19 ($1,607.29 $2,565.59) per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Office Technical Salary Schedule

Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
