Applications are being accepted for the position of Assistant Professor, Web Development under the Digital Technology Department at San Diego Mesa College beginning Spring 2017. Assignment may include some combination of online, day, evening, Saturday, Sunday and/or off-campus classes. While the vacancy is at San Diego Mesa College, applicants should understand that they are subject to assignment at any District facility at the option of the Chancellor. In addition, this pool may be used to fill identical vacancies that may occur during the 2016-2017 academic year.

Major Responsibilities:
The Assistant Professor will teach Web Development courses, as assigned. The Assistant Professor will also be responsible for maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position. In addition, this person will participate in department and school meetings; assist with curriculum development and revision; maintain office hours and student advisement and counseling, participate in various college committees to assist in shared governance; and fulfill the responsibilities of a community college instructor in accordance with the district-adopted position description

Qualifications:
Any bachelors degree and two years of professional experience, orany associate degree and six years of professional experience.

Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge, experience and/or academic preparation to teach lower division/community college level subject matter included in Web Development curricula, to include HTML, CSS, Javascript, XML, PHP/MySQL, CMS development, mobile app programming for Android and iOS devices, basic SEO and Analytics, User Interface Design, Universal Design/Accessibility, and project management. Demonstrated experience using Web Development hardware and software currently employed in industry. Professional work experience in the field of Web Development, including demonstrated excellence in project development and completion. Evidence of collaboration with industry, community,and/or professional organizations on curriculum and internship development. Knowledge and experience in teaching lower division/community college level students and commitment to maintaining college standards. Proficiency and experience in developing, delivering, and communicating Web Development education in the classroom and online. Demonstrated excellence in written, oral, and visual communication. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Evidence of commitment to remaining current in the discipline of Web Development, and to maintaining its program excellence that reflect industry standards and practices. Ability to work collegially and collaboratively with departmental faculty. Commitment to supporting departmental and college missions. Commitment to building community relationships and industry partnerships.

Pay Information:
Class 1, Step A Class 6, Step C ($5,658.89 $7,625.90) per month based on the current AFT College Faculty Tenured- Tenured Track Monthly Salary Schedule

Initial salary placement for this Assistant Professor is commensurate with required education and related teaching experience as outlined in section A2.2 of the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and it is non-negotiable. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid medical, dental, vision plans, sick leave, and opportunities for professional development. This position is FLSA Exempt and may not accrue overtime. Benefits will be provided under the terms of the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code 87815, any required adjustment will be made with-in the first pay period. Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, may be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011). Typically, Assistant Professors earn tenure after 4 years and promote to Associate Professor.
