Working Hours: MAT 110 -- Digital Imaging 1: Adobe Photoshop in the Spring 2017 semester. Two sections are available for spring: one 100% online class and one 100% on-site class. The online class is a late-start section that runs from February 6 to May 26, 2017. The on-site class is a full semester class that meets weekly on Wednesdays from 1:30-5:20 pm at our Oceanside Campus, and it runs from January 23 to May 26, 2017.

Basic Function and Other Details:
The college is recruiting an instructor to teach MAT 110 -- Digital Imaging 1: Adobe Photoshop. In this class students use Adobe Photoshop to enhance digital images and create artwork and graphic designs for print and web output. Through hands-on instruction and multiple projects students learn photo editing, compositing, color correction, layer adjustments, painting, blending techniques, and more.

Representative Duties:
The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching classes as assigned by the area dean; maintaining thorough and up-to-date knowledge in his/her discipline; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content and assessing student achievement.

Adherence to District policies and procedures is expected.

Minimum Qualifications:
Any Bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience directly related to this assignment

OR Any Associate degree and six years of professional experience directly related to this assignment

OR a valid appropriate California Community College Credential in the discipline area

OR the equivalent*

AND have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desirable Qualifications:
Successful teaching experience at the college level. Ability to engage and inspire students representing a wide variety of ages, demographic groups, and educational abilities. Demonstrated success in teaching students from historically underrepresented groups, under prepared or nontraditional students, speakers of other languages, and students with learning disabilities. Successful experience with different learning technologies. Strong academic preparation in area of instruction. Ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written discourse. Commitment to the community college objective of providing lower-division instruction for students of diverse abilities, interests, and cultural backgrounds.
