Working Hours: Instructors may be assigned to teach at any campus or online. Assignments may include days, evenings, or weekends. The person(s) selected for these positions will be subject to assignment to any district facility during any hours of operation.
Basic Function and Other Details:
The Computer Studies Department serves students with computer-related courses in basic skills, transfer, and career and technical education. Composed of curriculum focused in the areas of computer applications, information technology, and networking, the Computer Studies and Information Technology (CSIT) Program provides students with theoretical and hands-on experience in using the power of computing to critically evaluate and solve business, network, and security problems. The Department is seeking to create a pool of associate faculty for the following CSIT courses:
CSIT 100: Computer Basics I
CSIT 105: Computer Basics II
CSIT 110: Computer Applications
CSIT 115: Intermediate Computer Applications
CSIT 120: Fundamentals of Computer Information Systems
CSIT 125: Microsoft Word for Business
CSIT 128: Microsoft Excel for Business
CSIT 131: Microsoft Access for Business
CSIT 134: Microsoft PowerPoint for Business
CSIT 137: Google Apps for Business
CSIT 155: Web 2.0
CSIT 160: Technology, the Individual, and Society

Minimum Qualifications:
any Bachelor's degree plus two years (equivalent to full time) of professional experience directly related to this assignment (i.e., theoretical and applied work experience, and professional responsibilities as directly related to the subject matter to be taught; depending on the area, this may include experience with computers, software, networks, servers, systems and their programming, or application in business or other relevant environments such as government, education, military, etc.);
OR any Associate degree plus six years (equivalent to full time) of professional experience directly related to this assignment (i.e., theoretical and applied work experience, and professional responsibilities as directly related to the subject matter to be taught; depending on the area, this may include experience with computers, software, networks, servers, systems and their programming, or application in business or other relevant environments such as government, education, military, etc.);
OR a valid appropriate California Community College Credential in the discipline area
OR the equivalent*
AND Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Degrees and applicable college coursework must be from an accredited institution (a postsecondary institution accredited by an accreditation agency recognized by either the U.S. Dept of Education or the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation).

Desirable Qualifications:
Successful teaching experience at the community college or undergraduate level. Ability to engage and inspire students representing a wide variety of ages, demographic groups, and educational abilities. Demonstrated success in teaching students from historically underrepresented groups, under prepared or nontraditional students, speakers of other languages, and students with learning disabilities. Successful experience with different learning technologies. Strong academic preparation in area of instruction. Ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written discourse. Commitment to the community college objective of providing lower-division instruction for students of diverse abilities, interests, and cultural backgrounds.
