Working Hours: Classes meet on weekday evenings and also on Saturdays, at the MiraCosta College Community Learning Center at 1831 Mission Avenue, Oceanside, 92058. The individual selected for this position will be subject to assignment to any district facility during any hours of operation.

Basic Function and Other Details:
MiraCosta College is recruiting for a part-time instructor to teach Cisco courses. The Cisco Networking Academy offers CCENT, CCNA, and Security training courses that prepare students for Information Technology (IT) industry employment and certifications.

Representative Duties:
The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching classes as assigned by the area dean; maintaining thorough and up-to-date knowledge in his/her discipline; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content and assessing student achievement.

Adherence to District policies and procedures is expected.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To be eligible for this assignment, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications:

1. A bachelor's degree; and two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; OR

2. an associate degree; and six years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; OR

3. possession of a full-time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter; OR

5. sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Applicants without a current CCNA certificate would be required to complete Cisco Instructor Training classes (four courses) prior to teaching at MiraCosta College. All degrees and units used to satisfy the minimum qualifications must be from postsecondary institutions accredited by an accreditation agency recognized by either the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation. Or if your degree/coursework is from a college or university outside of the United States, you must submit a detailed evaluation from a professional evaluation agency. Desirable Qualifications:
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A valid Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certificate. Applicants with a current CCNA certificate would also be required to complete Cisco Instructor Fast Track Training (one course) prior to teaching at MiraCosta College. Applicants without a current CCNA certificate would be required to complete Cisco Instructor Training classes (four courses) prior to teaching at MiraCosta College. Ability to engage and inspire students representing a wide variety of ages, demographic groups, and educational abilities. 4. Demonstrated success in teaching students from historically underrepresented groups, underprepared or nontraditional students, speakers of other languages, and students with learning disabilities. 5. Successful experience with different learning technologies. 6. Strong academic preparation in area of instruction. 7. Ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written discourse. 8. Commitment to the community college objective of providing lower-division instruction for students of diverse abilities, interests, and cultural backgrounds.
