Saint Mary's seeks an innovative instructor for its Performance Lab series. In Spring 2019, the course will focus onPhysical Comedy, from Mask to Clown, with the goals ofbuildingawareness of the actor's expressive body and teaching students to mine the comic potential of their own unique physicality. The course will introduce working with theneutral mask, used as a tool for discovering and refining a sense of presence. Students will then develop a unique comedic clown persona, based on this essential presence.

The successful candidate is an accomplished professional, with demonstrated excellence as an undergraduate acting instructor. S/hewillhave experience with culturally diverse classroom settings; the ability to foster a student-centered, interactive and collaborative learning environment; and will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education.

Qualifications
An MFA in Acting or Physical Theatre (or equivalent professional experience), and extensive training in one or more of the following specializations: Le Coq, neutral mask, commedia, clown, status work.
