Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Development, the Associate Director of Athletic Development leads, manages, and coordinates all athletic development annual giving functions, including personal solicitation of prospects and donors, online communications, direct response vehicles, events, and volunteer driven solicitations, towards meeting the goals for the Gael Athletic Fund and team funds of the College. The associate director manages 1 full time staff member and coordinates programming with multiple members of the Advancement team, primarily annual giving, major gifts, advancement services, stewardship, and athletic staff and coaches as necessary, to execute comprehensive alumni, parent, and friend planned athletic solicitation outreach.

This position requires a strategic vision for increasing athletic based revenue through philanthropic means to the College in coordination with the Athletic Strategic Plan (Fall 2016), through varied and coordinated upgrade strategies to impact a growing pipeline of athletic supporters. This position will serve as a partner with the office of alumni and community engagement and the athletic and recreation sports department to build a competitive "culture of engagement" leading to philanthropic support for athletics. The associate director will further develop a best-practice based athletic development function that is goal-oriented and results focused, in consultation with other NCAA Division I institutions for benchmarking purposes.

Essential Duties and Functions:

1. Plan strategic direction and execution for athletic direct response communication; including high segmentation, strategy for retention, acquisition and upgrades, while using approved College priorities and messaging for alumni, parents and friends outreach for athletic revenue generation. This includes event communication and execution, online solicitation and stewardship communication, direct mail and at times telemarketing efforts.

2. Manage Assistant Director efforts to further develop revenue increases, when possible, for fund raising events that benefit unrestricted and restricted athletic goals. Focused attention on developing new sponsorship relationships utilizing volunteers and staff is essential to grow attendance and revenue through events.

3. Meet monthly metrics goals for front line fundraising effort, leading towards solicitations annually of prospects in portfolio. 12-15 visits per month, with agreed upon annual goals for closure will be established with supervisor. Heavy emphasis on discovery prospects through coordination of volunteer and athletic staff outreach necessary to grow pipeline of prospects and donors.

4. Collaborate and coordinate with athletics staff, advancement colleagues, campus partners, sponsors, vendors, volunteers and peers at other institutions to create timely, accurate, efficient and innovative athletic development programming, based on best practice strategies for a competitive Division I Athletics program.

5. Oversee new annual giving initiatives, such as giving days, social media coordination, leadership giving collateral and strategies, young alumni and student acquisition activities, campus partner and approved restricted opportunities, and expand reunion giving solicitations.



Experience and Qualifications:

Education Required: BA

Experience: 3+ years experience in athletic and annual giving related roles, preferably 3 years+ experience in direct response programming with front line face to face solicitation experience highly sought.

Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated experience in direct-response programming. Expertise in English grammar, punctuation, and syntax; use of best practices in direct-response writing, understanding of branding and positioning strategies, ability to learn subject-specific terminology for use in developing print, verbal and online communication; knowledge multi channel communication. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Demonstrated knowledge of marketing materials and reports. Comfortable managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines. Strong communication and writing skills for all mediums. Ability to work both collaboratively and independently. Ability to produce high-quality work on deadline. Knowledge of all aspects of sophisticated fundraising programs, strong organizational and analytical skills, and demonstrated business planning and project management skills.
