Responsibilities:

The Assistant Vice Provost for Student Success (AVP) is responsible for the leadership and supervision of the Student Success Office. Reporting areas include: 1) Career and Professional Development Center, 2) High Potential Program/TRIO Student Support Services, 3) Student Academic Rights, Responsibilities and Institutional Compliance, 4) Student Disability Services, 5) Student Engagement and Academic Success, and 6) Tutorial and Academic Skills Center. Key functions include 1) leadership, direction, and supervision; 2) Student success strategies, policies, and procedures; 3) assessment and evaluation; 4) advocacy, communication and campus-wide/college service. The key functions encompass the student success of diverse populations served by the various reporting areas to include both undergraduate and graduate students. Responsibilities include formulation and implementation of the budget, staffing, policies and procedures, student success strategies, long-range planning, staff development and professional leadership for the department. The position provides key contribution and leadership towards the college's Mission, Vision, Core Values and goals of enhancing student success, retention, and graduation. The AVP works closely with faculty, student life, and enrollment and communication staff to ensure college-wide, student success policies, processes and procedures are created and implemented effectively, consistently, equitably, and at optimal levels. The AVP will utilize evidence-based practices and data that will take student success at Saint Mary's to the next level of excellence.



Experience and Qualifications:

Education:
Doctorate in counseling, educational leadership, student development or related area

Experience:
Ten years or more experience of demonstrated progression of increasing leadership responsibility and as a successful administrator focused on student retention and success or equivalent.
Extensive experience in higher education environment including supervising teams and managing budgets.

Skills/Abilities:
Ability to provide administrative leadership for a diverse group of programs and create a collaborative culture that encourages involvement by staff members in management decisions.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully in creating and evaluating intentional, effective programming and strategies to lead the unit with a focus on student success.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, staff, and students and demonstrate a commitment to an inclusive workplace and educational environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills, excellent communication and organizational skills, and ability to formulate and articulate policies, procedures, and expectations.
Demonstrated competencies to organize, problem solve, set priorities, attend to details, and follow tasks through to completion.
Demonstrated expertise in project planning, development, and implementation.
Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
Professional conduct that demonstrates a commitment to the mission, values, and Core Values of Saint Mary's College.
