Qualifications
The Assistant Adjunct Faculty in Nutrition will instruct a course on Human Nutrition. Students will study the health effects of nutrition on the human biological system. This is a writing intensive course providing an overview of current topics in nutrition within the context of public health. In addition to studying the biochemical properties of macronutrients and micronutrients, students will explore concepts in dietary assessment and epidemiology, dietary toxic exposure and prevention strategies, life cycle nutrition, global nutrition, public health and community nutrition, agriculture and food policy, and evaluation of related research. It builds on the rhetorical and critical thinking skills used to analyze texts developed in English 5 and upon the fundamental biological and chemical concepts presented in introductory biology and chemistry. The research paper will prepare students with the skills to research and present on a range of topics in the health science discipline.

This course fulfills the Writing in the Discipline requirement for Allied Health Science majors. Students may take this course in or anytime after the spring semester of sophomore year and after completing introductory chemistry and biology.

This course meets on Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 - 1:05 pm during the Fall semester for 1.5 hours and provides at least 750 minutes of contact time with the instructor of record and approximately 1500 non-contact minutes to count for one credit hour.

Candidates should hold a PhD in Nutrition or closely related field (or expected at the time of application and earned by August 2018). Ability to work with a diverse study body and staff. Ideal candidates will have experience teaching lifecycle nutrition and working knowledge of the biochemical properties of macronutrients and micronutrients, dietary assessment and epidemiology, dietary toxic exposure and prevention strategies, global nutrition, public health and community nutrition, agriculture and food policy, and evaluation of related research. Candidates should be comfortable teaching a writing-intensive class in which students choose among a wide variety of nutrition-related research topics and conduct critical analysis of peer-reviewed literature.
