The UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television (TFT) invites applications for Chair of the Department of Theater. We seek an individual who will provide stature, vision, proven administrative skills and leadership for the Department of Theater’s new interdisciplinary curricular initiatives. The applicant will be committed to working in harmony and collaborating with the Theater faculty and the Dean to continue and strengthen the vision, mission and excellence of TFT and the Department of Theater.
The Chair has responsibility for the academic/administrative oversight and operation of the department. Responsibilities include the planning and implementation of the curriculum and supervision of the departmental budget. In collaboration with the Dean, the Chair will participate in strategic initiatives, including entrepreneurial and fundraising efforts for the Theater Department and the School. The Chair will facilitate collaborative relationships with TFT’s Department of Film, Television and Digital Media and across the University.
Qualifications: Applicants must demonstrate evidence of excellence in scholarship and/or creative work in acting, critical studies, design, directing or playwriting. Applicants should have exceptional leadership skills, be able to work within a context that is both professional and academic, and represent a broad range of backgrounds and views.
Rank/Salary: We are seeking applicants who qualify for appointment to Full Professor in the Theater Department. Salary will be commensurate with background and experience.
