Assistant Research Scientist - Medicine - Genetics

Academic Position. The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine (http://med.ucsd.edu) in the Department of Medicine at University of California, San Diego, is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Ideker lab seeks a high level Research Scientist to lead a group of research fellows and staff on a molecular network mapping project in cancer. This work is part of the cancer cell map initiative, an NCI funded center for cancer systems biology.

Ideal candidate will be familiar with one or more of the following: Biomedical data translation, bioinformatics and clinical expertise specific to patient data analysis, database design and implementation, and cellular subsystems. Candidates should have worked with: Biomedical data translation and techniques/strategies for genotype-phenotype prediction.

Candidates must have a PhD or MD/PhD in statistical or molecular genetics, computational or systems biology, or related discipline with multiple years of post-doctoral experience. Candidates must be proficient in: Deep transcriptome profiling, digital expression profiling, analysis of differential gene expression profiles, and the translation of genotype to phenotype using deep hierarchical models of biology.

Appointment will be at Assistant Research Scientist level. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
