Assistant Project Scientist - Radiology - UTE Imaging

The Department of Radiology at UC San Diego (http://radiology.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Ultrashort Echo Time (UTE) Imaging Laboratory at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) is seeking a full-time Assistant Project Scientist.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Developing novel UTE pulse sequences for morphological and quantitative imaging of short T2 tissues or tissue components;
  • Developing and implementing novel protocols for musculoskeletal and neuro imaging;
  • Developing and implementing novel data analysis techniques;
  • Assisting investigators with experimental design and data analysis;
  • Providing technical training and support including MR physics and data analysis;
  • Programming on GE and Bruker scanners;
  • Conducting phantom and tissue specimens study;
  • Facilitating histology, micro-CT, ultrasound, and biomechanical testing.

    Candidates must have:
  • Ph.D. in medical physics, biomedical engineering, physics, or a related field; and
  • Extensive knowledge of MR-related hardware, software and analysis techniques; and
  • A strong publication record in MRI, ideally UTE MRI.

    The preferred candidate will have:
  • Experience with GE Epic programming;
  • Experience developing UTE sequences on GE scanners.

    Appointment will be at the Assistant Project Scientist level. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and is based on University of California pay scales.
