Job Summary:

California State University, Fullerton is searching for a Groundsworker. Be a part of something beautiful-grounds and facilities.


Under immediate supervision, the Groundsworker provides general gardening/landscape maintenance services to assigned campus grounds areas including parking lot landscape maintenance. Plants, cultivates, fertilizes, waters, and sprays ornamental plants, shrubs, hedges, trees, lawns, and flowers. Trims trees, rakes leaves, hoes weeds, and cleans trash from assigned areas including parking lots. Prepares and treats soil for planting. Maintains and repairs hoses, sprinklers, tools, supplies, and equipment. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
One year of experience in the care and maintenance of landscaped areas in general grounds maintenance work, or in related labor. Through knowledge of general gardening and grounds maintenance methods. General knowledge of proper methods of planting, cultivating, and caring for hedges, ornamental trees, shrubs, lawns, and flowers, as well as the use and care of gardening materials, tools, and equipment. Knowledge of methods/materials used in maintenance of grass, shrubs and flowers. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and write in English in order to understand and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers and customers.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Special Working Conditions:
Ability to perform manual labor for an extended period. Working outdoors, exposed to various weather conditions. May be required to work overtime and varied shifts during athletic events season. Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation as needed. Will carry a Master key.
