About the Position:

Cal State Fullerton's College of the Arts is distinguished by its fully-accredited department of Visual Arts. Fine arts, new media, and design programs provide quality learning to 1,600 undergraduate and graduate students within state of the art studios, classrooms, computer and design labs, and galleries. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Gallery Director. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Gallery Director is responsible for the overall direction, administration, and management of CSU Fullerton, College of the Arts Main Gallery, currently referred to as the Begovich Gallery. This position is responsible for the supervision of personnel and volunteers, developing policies and procedures, management of budgets and fundraising, structuring and implementation of long range strategic goals, and developing and administrating community outreach programs. Oversees and coordinates general maintenance of the facility. Identifies and recommends improvements, maintenance, repairs, custodial services and other general needs. The Gallery Director reports to the Dean of the College of the Arts and will work closely with the dean's office to serves as a liaison between the college's diverse academic programs and patron base. Other duties as assigned.




Essential Qualifications:
Masters of Arts or Master of Fine Arts degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Arts Administration, Museum Studies, or Exhibition Design. Knowledge and expertise in museum/gallery operations including fundraising. Three or more years of professional experience in the administration of galleries or arts-related programs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent administrative and organizational skills. Evidence of being self-motivated and ability to work independently.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Special Working Conditions:
The scope of responsibilities for this position includes the making or participating in the making of decisions that may have a material financial benefit on the incumbent. Therefore, you will be required to file an initial Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interests within thirty (30) days from date of hire and on an annual basis; and complete the CSU sponsored ethics on-line training within thirty (30) days of appointment, and at least once during each consecutive period of two calendar years following the appointment.
