Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; this is a temporary position to end on or before June 30, 2018 with a possibility of renewal on an annual basis if program needs exist. Early morning, evening, and weekend hours.

Job Summary:
California State University, Fullerton is searching for a Fan Experience Coordinator (Public Affairs/Communication Specialist I) for the Athletics department. The Fan Experience Coordinator should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Reporting to the Assistant Athletics Director, Marketing and Communications, the Fan Experience Coordinator is responsible for enhancing the fan experience by coordinating pre-game (taking the field/court with the Titans), intermission, in-game, and halftime activities for all ticketed home athletic events. Develops, plans, and directs the fan experience program, including creating promotional scripts, coordinating in-game music and video content, scheduling and organizing promotional activities and game day magazine sales. Assists with producing and implementing overall marketing and promotional plans, policies, and procedures. Supports Assistant Athletics Director, Marketing and Communications in promoting atmosphere at all ticketed athletic events. Assists with corporate sponsorship program including fulfillment of university obligations and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. Assists with fan experience departmental program budget process. Supervises fan experience interns and volunteer staff and coordinates staffing needs. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university including the completion of relevant coursework and up to two years of related professional or technical experience. Knowledge of the fundamentals of public affairs and/or media relations, as well as some exposure to marketing and marketing research. In addition, strong written and verbal communication skills with a solid foundation in grammar, spelling, and the composition of various communication vehicles are essential. Ability to complete analytical duties of moderate complexity related to day-to-day communications activities to promote the objectives and programs of the university. Foundational knowledge of general practices, methods, and procedures related to public affairs, media relations, marketing, and/or sports information. Ability to keep abreast of public policy and public affairs issues. Working knowledge of protocols and institutional etiquette related to public and media relations. Basic knowledge and understanding of media outlets including print, television, and radio. Ability to work with the media for the coverage of events. Basic knowledge of market research and related techniques. Working knowledge of summary statistics as they relate to research or sports information. Basic knowledge of applicable copyright and other laws pertaining to written materials, news media and confidentiality. Working knowledge of applicable software packages. Knowledge of basic web communication techniques, vehicles, and formats. Strong writing and editing skills to quickly produce clear and concise standard documents for internal and external publication. Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information. Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships within the university and community and with the media. Fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as the ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages. Ability to organize and plan work and projects including multi-tasking and prioritizing competing projects. Ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment.
