Job Summary:
California State University, Fullerton is searching for a Cashier (Accounting Technician I). We are looking for a professional who possesses excellent customer service and communications skills.

Cashier is responsible for understanding the cashiering system, providing information, and cashiering services. Collects and provides receipts for university related fees and charges by entering data into an automated cashiering system via various means including phone, mail, and walk-in. Serves as the first point of contact for new and continuing students and other constituents. Provides high quality and timely customer service reflective of responsive, customer-centered services and programs. Explains university billing and payment related policies and procedures to customers. Responsible for researching certain payments to the university. Performs daily reconciliation and financial record-keeping. Reviews financial documents for accuracy, completeness, validity, and adherence to standards. Computes and posts figures rapidly and accurately. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
Two years of cashiering or the equivalent of general office, clerical or financial record-keeping experience or successful completion of a CSU campus training program in financial record keeping or any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.

General knowledge of financial record-keeping methods, procedures, practices, arithmetic, and general office procedures. Familiarity with, or the ability to learn, governmental financial record-keeping methods. Ability to review financial documents for accuracy, completeness, validity, and adherence to standards. Ability to compute and post figures accurately. Ability to maintain files and records and identify, trace, and correct errors. Ability to follow directions and interpret and apply written rules and regulations. Ability to operate a calculator, adding machine, typewriter, and/or word processor. Ability to use personal computers and/or automated accounting systems. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with university personnel and vendors. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, alertness, and sound judgment in responding to others. Ability to read and write in English at a level appropriate to the position. Ability to handle a wide range of confidential information and abide by all Family Education Rights and Privacy Act rules and regulations. Strong interpersonal skills to work in an environment rich in diversity and to give positive support to students, faculty, staff and other campus departments. Ability to solve routine problems. Ability to handle multiple priorities, as well as the ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and affecting Cashier Services. Working knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, as well as the ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing.
