Communication Sciences and Disorders Clinical Educator

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a full-time Communication Sciences and Disorders Clinical Educator. Position
Primary responsibilities include supervising a combination of four pediatric and adult practicum courses in fall, spring, and summer semesters in the Speech and Hearing Clinic. Secondary responsibilities include teaching a course as needed and developing clinical curriculum in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Faculty members may choose to actively participate in faculty governance, serve on committees, develop clinical curriculum, and engage in activities that benefit the university/community in ways that support an equitable and inclusive environment for colleagues and students.
Qualifications
Required
• Earned master’s or doctorate degree in speech-language pathology;
• Earned ASHA CCC-SLP and California licensure in speech-language pathology;
• Experience and evidence of working as an SLP at least 5 years;
• Experience in clinical supervision either in the university setting or at clinical settings (e.g., hospitals, schools, private practice clinics, etc.);
• Demonstrates ability to interact harmoniously with students, staff, and colleagues within a diverse academic learning community with a strong global orientation;
• Demonstrates vision for advancing current clinical education in the department;
• Demonstrates effective communication skills necessary for working with the Director of the Clinic, Department Chair, and Director of the graduate program in strengthening clinical education;
• Demonstrates clinical experience with a diverse client population (e.g., various disorders and ethnicity of clients across life-span);
• Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to all aspects of cultural diversity/difference for clients, students, and faculty members.
Preferred
• Fluent with language(s) in addition to English;
• Knowledge and experience with evidence-based practice in clinical care.
Rank and Salary
This is a non-tenure track, full-time lecturer position with primary responsibilities in supervising graduate students in the Speech and Hearing Clinic. Appointment is for one year with an ending date of June 30, 2020 and may be renewed for additional year(s) based on satisfactory performance and funding availability. Salary is highly competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
