California State University, Dominquez Hills is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow for the Mervyn M. Dymally African American Political & Economic Institute


The mission of the Mervyn M. Dymally African American Political and Economic Institute is to influence public policy debates through on-going academic and community research dealing with African American political and economic development concerns and impacts in California and beyond. The Institute was named after Meryvn Dymally, one of the most influential individuals in Los Angeles and statewide politics during his over 30 year career in public office. Reporting to the executive director, the fellow will actively contribute to the running of the Institute. In addition to conducting their own research, the post-doc will be expected to attend and contribute to Institute activities such as organizing conferences and symposia, and liaising with community organizations and scholars. The fellow may request to teach a course on a topic of their own choosing. The incumbent may share responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, and other functions as may be assigned. The Fellow will report to the Director of the Institute.

The Dymally Postdoctoral Research Fellowship is awarded to qualified researchers within 3 years of having obtained their doctorate to carry out an independent research program. The research plan must address questions within the scope and interest of the Dymally Institute. Multi-disciplinary, inter-disciplinary and all disciplinary perspectives including Arts, Health Science, Natural Science, Engineering, Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences are invited.

CSU Dominguez Hills, an urban university in the twenty-three campus California State University system, is located in Carson, in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County. Its 346-acre campus is situated in the historic Rancho San Pedro, the oldest Spanish land grant in the Los Angeles area. The campus is strategically located in the heart of a major technological, industrial, and transportation complex in Southern California.
