The Department of Music at California State University, Dominguez Hills invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor with the appointment starting in Fall 2019.

Department
The Department of Music at CSU Dominguez Hills offers programs leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Music with options in Performance (including all instruments, voice, conducting, and composition), General Music, and Music Education.

The Music Program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM)andis distinguished by the wide range of experiences it offers the student including: performance, composition, conducting, music history, world music, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, music for the theater, jazz, commercial music, and gospel. The Department of Music is an All-Steinway school and was the first public university in California to earn this distinction.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Music, with at least one degree in Music Education
  • Outstanding instrumentalist or conductor
  • College or university-level teaching experience
  • Experience in teaching undergraduates/teaching graduates/teaching students/teaching and working with colleagues/working with students/working with colleagues from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

    Preferred /Desired Qualifications
  • Elementary, Middle School, or High School teaching experience
  • Specialist in Latin American musical styles
  • Orff/Kodaly/Dalcroze certification
  • Candidates will have an exceptional reputation in their field, an appropriate level of administrative experience, and ability to provide forward thinking leadership
  • Professional level of proficiency in teaching Music Theory, Musicianship, and/or expertise and experience in teaching music at the elementary and secondary level

    Employment Requirement - Background Check
    Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
