Position Information
This is a full-time management (MPP) position. MPP employees serve at the pleasure of the campus President. MPPs do not serve a probationary period and never receive permanent status.

This position is a "designated position" in the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. The successful candidate accepting this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.

This position will remain open until filled.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
60% Responsibilities in academic planning, review and quality include:
- Oversight of review of all proposals for new, modified, or discontinued undergraduate academic curriculum and programs by authorized campus bodies and individuals.
- Annual reporting of review results as required in the CSU Academic Master Plan.
- Serve in strong partnership with the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research as administrative liaison to the University Curriculum Committee.
- Joint oversight with the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research of annual update and production of the CSUDH University Catalog and production of academic program materials provided to academic departments.
- Assure the quality of General Education and undergraduate programs through development and implementation of academic policies and assessment tools.
- Provide opportunities to high-achieving students through Pre-doctoral Scholars Program, Equity Fellowships, Forgivable Loans, and Student Research Competitions.
- Collaborate with the Associate Vice President for Retention, University Academic Advisement and Learning in developing undergraduate academic programs and other policies to enhance student success and promote academic excellence.
- Promote the recruitment and retention of highly qualified undergraduate students.
- Design of master calendar with CO submission dates and tracking of CO projects, new programs and revisions to academic calendar, updates of program codes in data base.
- Work directly with CSU Chancellor's Office implementation of Executive Orders, coordinating academic program changes.
- Data collection given strategic plan goals related to high impact practice (HIP) for all majors.
- Collaborate with instructional services for training and discussions related to effective online teaching.

20% Responsibilities in undergraduate programs include:
- Co-coordinate the University Curriculum Committee (UCC).
- Serve as liaison to the General Education Committee.
- Oversee centrally monitored grants and projects related to undergraduate studies.

10% Responsibilities in academic student support services include:
- General oversight of operations and services.
- Coordinate response to undergraduate student complaints, including appeals, received by the President and the Provost as well as by the Office of Academic Programs.

10% Perform other duties and assignments as required.
Qualifications
Required Education: Must have an earned doctorate and the appropriate academic credentials to qualify for appointment as a tenured Professor in one of the colleges within the Division of Academic Affairs. Must have substantial evidence of research and scholarly activity.

Required Experience: Demonstrated significant and successful academic administrative experience and proven leadership ability with considerable experience in preparing significant documents or other reports related to academic programs. Experience in program planning, direction and coordination for policy development and implementation.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of higher education issues and trends, curriculum and program development practices, the general concerns and processes of educational equity, and the needs and expectations of ethnic minorities. Demonstrated leadership in academic administration and support services.
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, diverse, complex university environment with staff, faculty and administrators. Ability to analyze complex programs and to devise innovative solutions; to perceive the implications and potential consequences of various situations and to assess the potential impact of alternative courses of action. Ability to work independently and as a collaborative and positive team member, be self-directed and results-oriented. Ability to perform all the essential functions of this position.
Skill in oral and written communications. Highly effective interpersonal skills. Skill in consultative decision-making; demonstrated strengths in leadership, planning, and evaluation.

The Office of Undergraduate Studies is responsible for curricular and program review for all academic programs; joint oversight of the production of the University Catalog; coordination of undergraduate academic accreditation; oversight of undergraduate academic probation and disqualification; and coordination of new undergraduate program development.

The Office of Undergraduate Studies is responsible for oversight of undergraduate programs and curriculum support units such as: Academic Programs and the Honors Program. The Office of Undergraduate Studies serves as liaison to the General Education Committee and University Curriculum Committee.
