Position Announcement

The faculty of the College of Education at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications from individuals for a Tenure Track; Assistant or Associate Professor position in the Teacher Education Division of the College of Education.

Responsibilities
Teaching a variety of post-graduate/graduate courses in the teacher education department in the college of education (face-to-face and online) in teaching English Language Arts and Literacy with a critical pedagogy perspective.
Pursuing a research agenda related to teaching and learning with a focus on English Language Arts and Literacy.
Assuming college and university committee responsibilities.
Assisting the department with administrative and/or committee work.
Collaborating with faculty and public school partners in the development, review, assessment, and maintenance of English Language Arts and Literacy programs.
Participating in and expanding partnerships with area schools to foster excellent field experiences and job prospects for our candidates.
Developing and coordinating an online reading program.
Demonstrating and employing digital tools that enhance learning in all courses.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree in education or directly related field of study from an accredited institution of higher education by date of appointment.
A minimum of five years of experience as a successful TK-12 English Language Arts /Literacy teacher in urban school environments with linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse students.
Demonstrated commitment to TK-12 Literacy.
Understanding of Common Core State Standards and its integration into content areas.
Commitment to urban education, diversity, inclusion, and student academic and social excellence.
Evidence of exemplary teaching in a university settings.
Demonstrated ability to use a variety of instructional methodologies.
Willingness and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
Knowledge and successful integration of technology in planning and teaching.
A publication agenda related to English Language Arts and Literacy.
Expertise in English language learning theories, practice, and pedagogy.
Experience in teaching students from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual
Art-based critical pedagogy perspective
