The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University seeks a dynamic, creative, and talented individual to fill the faculty position of Lecturer in the Graphic Information Technology program. The position focuses on providing graduates with solid foundational, procedural and conditional knowledge consistent with entry into the graphic communication industry, specifically focusing on web design/development and animation/motion graphics.  This is a non-tenure track appointment with a fixed term academic year contract.

The Graphic Information Technology (GIT) program is one of the outstanding programs on the ASU Polytechnic campus, which is conveniently located adjacent to the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.  The GIT program educates undergraduate and graduate students to become industry leaders who develop and manage content through numerous communication and distribution modes. Creative and comfortable with complex digital technology, GIT lives primarily in the front-end user universe of content interaction. Through project-based learning, teamwork and authentic client experiences, graduates are innovative problem solvers prepared for leading roles and entrepreneurship opportunities in the rapidly evolving graphics industry. Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in a related area and at least five (5) years of experience in the graphic communications industry, specifically in the web design/development and/or 2D-3D animation/motion graphics fields. Experience in HTML5 animation, JavaScript, jQuery and Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop.

Desired Qualifications: 

Higher education teaching experience. Experience creating curriculum and teaching courses in an online environment. Strong skills in any of the following: Maya, Unity, Adobe After Effects, storyboarding, animation art modeling and texturing, and utilizing Photoshop’s 3D capabilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching face-to-face and online curriculum in the focus areas of web design/development and animation/motion graphics, as well as collaborating in other GIT program areas, which include creative thinking, digital and print design, commercial photography and video, and graphic industry business practices.
