About the College/Department
The Department of Education Reform ( EDRE ) was created in 2005 through a $10 million gift from the Windgate Foundation and an additional $10 million from the University s Matching Gift Program. This gift is one of the largest ever received by a college of education in the country. With these resources, the department has six endowed professorships, 10 doctoral fellowships and funds for research and projects.
The mission of the Department of Education Reform is to advance education and economic development by focusing on the improvement of academic achievement in elementary and secondary schools. The Department of Education Reform produces research findings leading to direct intervention programs in public schools. It is committed to producing research that will directly inform policymakers at all levels of government, scholars, parents, teachers, administrators and the general public to positively influence the future of Arkansas and the nation s schools.

Summary of Job Duties
The Research Assistant will be responsible for creating and managing logistics for a new academic conference hosted by the Department of Education Reform. The Research Assistant will also be in charge of creating and managing a communications network to support contributors to the field of education policy. In addition, this position will be responsible for an initiative to track different state regulations regarding School Choice and the effects of those policies. The Research Assistant will also be responsible for other research project duties as assigned.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

  • Earned bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in education policy, political science, education, communications, or a related field
  • At least one year of experience managing data collection and research projects
  • At least one year of experience in educational instruction, counseling, or mentoring
