About the College/Department
The Arkansas Forest Resources Center, a University of Arkansas Center of Excellence, has the mission of developing and delivering superior programs in research and extension that enhance and ensure the sustainability of forest-based natural resources. To support this mission, the Center brings together interdisciplinary expertise from across the University System through a partnership between the Arkansas Division of Agriculture and the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Research is administered through the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station and extension and outreach activities are coordinated through the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service. The School of Forest Resources delivers academic programs through the University of Arkansas at Monticello. The Center is headquartered at the University of Arkansas at Monticello campus, but its programs range statewide.

Summary of Job Duties
The successful applicant will work on an ongoing research effort to better understand wild turkey ecology and population dynamics in the Ozark and Ouachita mountains in northern Arkansas. The applicant will have access to 3 years of data including banding and encounter data from >300 leg-banded turkeys, >150 satellite transmitters, and 140 trail cameras to investigate survival, recruitment, and harvest rates of male turkey. Field work may consist of turkey capture, marking, and deployment of trail cameras during January-March. This project will provide opportunity for collaboration with personnel from state and federal agencies, and non-profit organizations. The successful candidate will be expected to attain lead role on data management, collaborate on analysis, and report writing. Expectations to present findings at conferences, and prepare and submit manuscripts for publication in leading research journals. Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

M.S. degree in a relevant area of specialization, or a B.S. degree in a relevant area plus three years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Experience with rocket netting, satellite telemetry studies, trail camera data, mark-recapture analysis, and harvest and band recovery data; experience with statistical modeling packages including R, SAS , and/or MARK
