About the Department:
The Walter J. Lemke Department of Journalism offers specialized sequences in news/editorial, advertising/public relations and broadcast. Students are trained in writing news, analyzing media, planning campaigns, producing television programs and basic photojournalism publishing. The department offers special interdisciplinary options, various student media organizations, award-winning faculty and a Center for Ethics in Journalism.

Summary of Job Duties
The Lemke Department of Journalism in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, University of Arkansas, invites applications for a nine-month, non-tenure-track instructor position in digital or visual journalism production, writing and design of news and/or advertising/public relations content. This non-tenure track Instructor position will teach four classes per semester. This position requires teaching upper and lower level classes, theory and/production, as well as other duties as assigned. Areas where the candidate may teach include photojournalism or visual design and production of news or advertising/public relations content; broadcast news writing and production; multimedia or digital journalism writing, design and production; and/or multimedia or digital advertising/public relations writing, design and production.
The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in journalism, advertising, public relations, mass communications, or a related field
  • Professional experience relevant to photojournalism, multimedia journalism or advertising/public relations, and/or digital or visual news or advertising/public relations writing and production
  • University or college teaching experience


Preferred Qualifications
  • University or college teaching experience as the primary instructor of one or more related courses
  • One year or more of professional experience relevant to photojournalism, multimedia journalism or advertising/public relations, and/or digital or visual news or advertising/public relations writing and production
