The department of University Recreation exists under the College of Education and Health Professions to engage and enhance the University of Arkansas community through diverse recreational, social, and wellness opportunities. As a result, the University Recreation department performs a vital role in the recruitment, retention, and education of students and personnel.

Summary of Job Duties
Administer aspects of personnel management to include, but not limited to, the hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluation processes for student employees.
Research and implement innovative educational training programs for student employees. Schedule info sessions and rules clinics for student officials on a semester basis. Help supervise the student employee incentive program. Evaluate risk management processes, as well as, assist in the development and enhancement of departmental and programmatic risk management plans.
Assist with the supervision and advisement of a comprehensive intramural sports budget. Maintain payroll for student officials. Assist in the upkeep of quarterly budgets for intramural sports.
Manage and maintain registrations for team and tournament sports through Innosoft's FusionIM Software. Create and manage league and tournament schedules, and assist with reschedules regarding playoff games. Monitor and generate program evaluations for team and tournament sports.
Assist with event management regarding UREC and intramural sports activities. Conduct inventories for official uniforms and equipment at the beginning and end of each intramural sports activity. Participate in the collaborative process of seeking out internal and external campus partnerships.
Develop and execute yearly objectives and key results for UREC and intramural sports.
Collaborate with UREC Facilities with the scheduling of intramural sports activities and special events. Possess a knowledge and willingness to assist in the maintenance of the UREC Sports Complex and other UREC facilities. Support in the marketing and updates of the Intramural sports website and supplemental social media sites and apps. Serve as lead for email and telephone communication with intramural sports participants.
Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Contribute to collaborative departmental programming and training efforts; Attend departmental staff meetings and additional college and/or university meetings and events when needed; Teach American Red Cross CPR / AED and First Aid classes; Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Minimum 3.0 grade point average
  • Admission to a College of Education and Health Professions graduate degree program
  • Satisfactory completion of the GRE will be required prior to employment with the department of University Recreation

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Knowledge and experience working in the campus recreation field with specific experience in Intramural Sports, either as a supervisor, sports official or staff member
  • Knowledge of supervising student staff, budgeting and risk management, and facilitating training/presentations
