Summary of Job Duties
The Associate General Counsel will advise the University, its Board, officers, administrators, campuses, units, faculty and staff on legal issues affecting the campuses and units of the University, including litigation representation, policy and contract drafting and review. The duties of the Associate General Counsel contribute in the effort to further the mission of the UA System.
Minimum Qualifications

- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited American Bar Association law school
- License to practice law in the State of Arkansas or the ability to become licensed in Arkansas within six months of employment
- At least five years of experience in the practice of law, with a governmental or nonprofit entity, in private practice, with a corporation, or clerkship

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education legal issues, particularly in the areas of Student Affairs and Title IX, and related governmental compliance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge in Student Affairs issues, Title IX law, government compliance and legal issues in higher education, including a general understanding of employment and contract law
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work professionally under pressure
- Ability to conduct effective legal research
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to have a strong commitment to teamwork, customer service and collaboration
- Maturity, sound judgment, good work ethic and ability to work closely with the other members of the General Counsel's office
