Tenure-Aerospace Engineering & Mechanics-UASs

The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics (AEM) at The University of Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in areas related to Unmanned Aerial Systems (UASs). The successful applicant for this position will contribute to the UA Center for Remote Sensing in areas related to swarming UASs. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will join the faculty at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor, although exceptional candidates may be considered for higher rank and tenure depending upon experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong externally- funded research program, demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring students, and provide service to the profession, university, college, and AEM department.

With 18 tenured or tenure-track faculty members, the AEM department enrolls 400+ undergraduate students in the ABET-accredited BSAE degree program and approximately 100 graduate students in the MS and PhD degree programs. The AEM Department is currently experiencing an era of unprecedented growth and expansion. The AEM department benefits from the University’s rapid expansion in terms of facilities, including the recent construction of the

$300 million Shelby Engineering and Science Quad. This four building complex provides over 900,000 square feet of state-of-the-art research and instructional space, the majority of which is devoted to the College of Engineering.

The University of Alabama is located on a beautiful 1,168-acre residential campus in Tuscaloosa, a dynamic community of over 150,000.
