Professor

The Department of Biological Sciences seeks applications at the Full Professor rank (current Associate Professors are also encouraged to apply) with expertise in microbiome/microbiota-host interactions. This position will be part of a cluster of positions with the Departments of Chemistry and Human Nutrition at The University of Alabama. We are particularly interested in applicants with foci in mechanistic studies of cell signaling and communication between microbial species and between hosts and the microbiota, regulation of microbiota population growth, effects of microbiome diversity and community structure on the host, and the impact of microbiome dynamics on holobiont physiology and health. The successful applicant will have a highly visible research program in one of these areas, an established record of sustained research funding, and an interest in building a strong core of scientists within the scope of microbiome research. Teaching responsibilities will be in the candidate's area of expertise.
