Multiple Tenure-Track Faculty Positions

Multiple Tenure-Track Faculty Position (Assistant/Associate Professor)

The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at The University of Alabama invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions consistent with building upon and expanding the strengths of our faculty (http://cce.eng.ua.edu/). Candidates will be considered for appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Architectural Engineering. Areas of interest include innovative building envelopes and materials; lighting and daylighting; building electrical power and distribution; building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems; building controls; indoor environmental modeling/measurements; acoustics; fire detection/suppression; and energy efficient building design and operation. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in architectural engineering, civil engineering, or a closely related field, and at least one degree in architectural engineering.

Construction Engineering. Areas of interest include design and optimization of construction methods; building design and construction; design and performance of temporary structures; design and construction of infrastructure systems; construction safety; construction for sustainability and resiliency; and integration of new or emerging technologies in construction execution/project delivery processes. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in construction engineering, civil engineering, or a closely related field.

The department is benefiting from the College and University’s rapid expansion in facilities including ongoing construction of a four-building, $350 million Engineering and Science Complex. The third phase of this complex was completed in January 2012, and the fourth phase was opened in Fall 2013. These buildings  provide over 900,000 square feet of state-of-the-art research and instructional space, the majority of which is devoted to the College of Engineering. Successful candidates will work within an integrated research community that includes a variety of on-campus research centers such as the University Transportation Center for Alabama (UTCA), and the new Center for Sustainable Infrastructure (CSI).

Applicants must have an earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in civil engineering or a closely related field.
