Associate Professor/Professor

The Capstone College of Nursing at the University of Alabama is pleased to announce a search for the Martha Saxon Endowed Chair in Rural Nursing. We are seeking a senior researcher with a well established record of external funding and publications in peer reviewed journals. The scholar's research experience could include health disparities, underserved populations, access to care issues and/or other topics of relevance to Rural Nursing. He or she will be expected to mentor graduate students and junior faculty, obtain external funding, and support our emphasis on Rural Nursing. Responsibilities will include participation in teaching at the graduate or undergraduate level. Capstone College of Nursing has over 2,000 students enrolled in programs leading to BSN , MSN , DNP and EdD degrees. At the MSN level, we offer concentrations for Case Managers, Clinical Nurse Leaders, Nurse Administrators, and Nurse Practitioners. Our interdisciplinary EdD program is designed specifically for nurse educators; and is jointly taught by faculty with expertise in nursing and education. A new PhD program is currently being developed.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned research doctorate in nursing or a related field, at least five years of teaching experience, and be eligible for registered nurse licensure in Alabama. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching in a PhD program. Applicants are encouraged to submit a cover letter addressing their research and teaching experience, goals, a curriculum vitae, and a list of three or more references. Prior to employment, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment background investigation.
