Tenure-Track, Asst Prof; Criminal Justice

The University of North Alabama Department of Politics, Justice, and Law invites candidates for a tenure-track position in Criminal Justice at Assistant Professor rank to begin fall 2019.  Area of specialization is open, but desired areas of concentration include: expertise in justice administration, comparative crime, law and society, police/community relations, or public policy to supplement cross-disciplinary program emphasis. Contract is for nine (9) months. Additional summer contracts may be available, based on department need.

Duties and Responsibilities:  Teach the undergraduate and/or graduate courses each semester in face-to-face and/or online platforms. Course load includes lower-level and advanced courses within the field and within the candidate’s area of specialization. The successful applicant will be expected to advise and mentor students within the undergraduate and graduate programs, develop the curriculum, engage in university service, and maintain an active research agenda.

Minimum Job Requirements:  Ph.D. in Criminal Justice preferred for tenure-track position teaching courses at undergraduate and graduate levels; ABD with completion date by August 2019 will be considered.  A PhD in a closely-related discipline (e.g. Criminology) may also be considered. Applicants must demonstrate an aptitude for teaching undergraduates.
