Assistant Professor-Dietetic Internship Director

The School of Public Health at Samford University invites applicants interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for the full-time, non-tenure track faculty position of Dietetic Internship Director in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics. This faculty position is a 12-month appointment. This position will direct the University’s dietetic internship program which is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). The Dietetic Internship Director will be responsible for all program requirements for maintaining accreditation, including timely submission of reports; assuring adherence to University and program policies and procedures; intern recruitment and admissions procedures; formal curriculum development and review; management of intern program records; and management of preceptors and facilities for supervised practice.  Teaching in the undergraduate and graduate Nutrition and Dietetics program and service within professional organizations and on committees within the department, college, and university is expected.

Qualified candidates will hold an earned master’s degree in human nutrition or a closely related field; hold current Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) status and be license-eligible in Alabama. Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is also required. Candidates must have at least 5 years of professional experience as an RDN, including a minimum of 3 years in the area of community nutrition or clinical nutrition. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal relationship skills, organizational skills, as well as effective communication and problem-solving skills. Prior undergraduate and graduate teaching experience in both face-to-face and online format, and serving as a preceptor, is preferred. A commitment to academic excellence and the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and colleagues is expected. The successful candidate should embrace the vision of the department and school, and the college’s focus on inter-professional education. Academic rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications, professional experiences, previous academic teaching experiences, and scholarship accomplishments. 

The College of Health Sciences is an innovative initiative for Samford University.
