Sports Dietitian Assistant II

Auburn University is seeking candidates for the Sports Dietitian Assistant position. Working with the Director of Sports Nutrition, the successful candidate will assist with overseeing the sports nutrition program for student-athletes and the management of the Wellness Kitchen dining facility for Auburn University Athletics.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing dietary assessments and counseling to student-athletes for all varsity sports, the planning of travel nutrition and pre-game menus for student athletes and perform assessments of student-athletes including body composition and dietary supplement use. This position will also develop and perform nutrition education programs, and research student-athlete nutrition programs.

Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Performs dietary assessments and counseling to student-athletes for all varsity Olympic sports.
2. Assists in the management of the Wellness Kitchen dining facility.
3. Performs nutrition education talks and demonstrations to teams.
4. Coordinates and implements dietary programs to assist in the management and treatment of
nutrition-related medical conditions.
5. Performs and analyzes body composition assessments of student-athletes.
6. Evaluates the use of dietary supplements by student athletes.
7. Plans travel nutrition and pre-game menus.
8. Participates in team recruiting and travel as requested.
9. May coordinate and oversee student volunteer sports nutrition program
10. Complies with all applicable National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Southeastern Conference (SEC) regulations in the performance of job duties.

Supervisory Responsibility: May be responsible for training, assisting or assigning tasks to others. May provide input to performance reviews of other employees.

Minimum Qualifications
Entry into the applicant pool requires a Bachelors degree from an accredited institution, in nutrition or relevant field. Plus, two (2) years experience in assisting, advising, or administering a college sports nutrition program. Employer will consider advanced degrees in lieu of experience.

Knowledge of Southeastern Conference (SEC), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and food safety procedures.

Must be a Registered Dietitian.

Desired Qualifications
Masters degree in Nutrition, Exercise Science or related field. Experience in assisting, advising or administering a college sports nutrition program.
