The College of Architecture, Design and Construction at Auburn University, established in 1907, is comprised of the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture, The McWhorter School of Building Science and the School of Industrial and Graphic Design. These academic units offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs that are consistently recognized both institutionally and nationally for their academic excellence and their on-going innovations in the fields of design, construction and related education. The Head of the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture is poised to play a key role in the context of a multidisciplinary college that emphasizes integrated practice and collaboration. As an academic unit, the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture maintains a strong commitment to excellence in teaching as well as an exemplary working relationship with the professional community and industry. The School is a leader in design and outreach education, and research in Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Interior Architecture. The Head of School provides vision, leadership and support for the School's academic, professional and scholarly research goals and initiatives.

This is a 12-month, tenured position. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Terminal degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, OR 1st professional degree in Architecture or Landscape Architecture along with a master's degree in a related discipline.

Academic and/or professional record that merits appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure

Demonstrated leadership and management skills

Experience with resource and budget management

Record of outstanding written, interpersonal and digital communication skills

Desired Qualifications

Recognized accomplishments in teaching, scholarship, research and professional practice

Experience with integrated practice and/or collaborative learning

Commitment to public service through direct experience with academic outreach programs and/or applied research

Experience at developing and maintaining productive partnerships with the community and the profession

Experience at obtaining external funding

PhD in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Architecture or related discipline and/or professional licensure

Special Instructions to Applicants

Review of applications will begin on 1 December 2016 and will continue until a candidate is recommended for appointment. Start date is tentatively set for July 2017. Candidates selected must be able to meet eligibility requirements in the U.S. at the time appointment is scheduled to begin and continue to work legally for the proposed term of employment.
