Job Description Summary

The School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences is seeking candidates for the position of Post-Doctoral Scientist to conduct quantitative fisheries research related to several ongoing projects including harvest policy trade-off analyses for Chinook salmon in western Alaska, Red Snapper assessment in the Gulf of Mexico, and creel survey methods for reservoir fisheries. The Associate will primarily develop computer models of dynamic fishery systems, use these models to evaluate harvest policies and stock assessment methods, and publish the findings in high quality scientific journals. The Associate will be integrated into a vibrant and productive lab shared by numerous graduate students and three faculty members, and will have access to excellent computing, field, and lab resources. The research will be conducted in close collaboration with state and federal agency personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include an earned Ph.D. in fisheries, marine biology, biostatistics, or related field; strong quantitative and oral and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

Expertise in fish stock assessment, Bayesian estimation, and computer programming (e.g., R, WinBUGS, AD Model Builder) is highly desired.
