Flight Instructor (20 hours per week)

**This is a pool posting for future vacancies in this job classification. Applications will be considered active for a period of six months from the posting date. It is also part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week.**

Provides flight training for AU students pursuing Aviation Management or Professional Flight degrees, as well as other interested AU students in other disciplines.

As representatives of Auburn University, AU Flight Instructors must maintain a professional demeanor and attitude commensurate with an institution of higher education at all times. This responsibility extends when on or off duty. In addition, each AU flight instructor must:

a) Promote and instill the safety culture of AU Flight Education by adhering to all prescribed policies and procedures, bringing any safety-related issues to the attention of the Chief Instructor, and working to instill a culture of safety in all their students.

b) Ensure each assigned student is scheduled in accordance with the student's flight training schedule on the days and time blocks established.

c) Provide the best flight instruction possible

d) Attempt to reschedule assigned students to make up any missed lessons, or to accommodate additional availability the student may have.

e) Conduct instruction in accordance with all AU Flight Education practices, procedures, and guidance.

f) Maintain each assigned student's logbook and flight training record completely, accurately, and in a timely manner.

Weekend and evening work may be required.

Minimum Qualifications
Entry into the applicant pool requires some college, vocational or an Associate's degree from an accredited institution; and knowledge of the flight training aspects of aviation, including techniques and skill.

Level I: requires Flight Instructor certification plus an Airplane Single-Engine rating.

Level II: requires Flight Instructor certification plus an Airplane Single-Engine rating and Instrument-Airplane rating.

Level III: requires Flight Instructor certification plus an Airplane Single-Engine rating, an Instrument-Airplane rating, and a Multi-Engine Airplane rating.

The individual selected for this position will be required to successfully pass a post-offer/pre-employment physical.

Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically, ability to distinguish colors.

Pay commensurate with level of certification plus ratings.
